Turns out polyflor do a click-together plank system with a tacky underlay that helps keep it all together. Price wise it's about the same as the glue down stuff, but would be more rapid and self install (not that I'm averse to glueing, just can't really afford the time when the local pro charges a tenner a metre).. Downside is they don't do the style I want in the click planks..

This building lark is all compromises, all the time!
