ebuild is sad to announce its closure - it has become too time and resource intensive to develop, manage and maintain.

However, ebuild will remain on-line in archive mode (ie no posting facilties) for several weeks so that users can use it as an information resource.

Sir David Mackay Has Died.

Yes.

Horrible.

I knew him a little and note that he was only a few months older than me and with two very young kids, and probably a bigger contributor to all of the main causes that I care about. If it had been possible to swap places with places with him I'd have considered it. Right up to the end he was still answering emails, etc.

Rgds

He was dying with such dignity. I have been following his blog for some months. I recommend it as a read for all, especially anyone suffering from or with someone close who is suffering from, probably, terminal cancer, or indeed any other terminal illness.

All best

His was a name I kept hearing and wondered what all the fuss was about. Then I downloaded SEWTHA and knew. I bought the hard copy and kept the errata tucked into all the relevent pages. Really annoyed me that a few on the other place used the errors to rubbish the whole work.

I noticed that there is still one such on the other place, even in the thread announcing his death saying some pretty $hitty things. Unbelievable.

The person who made that comment (over at the other place) has no credibility and was not worthy of a response.

I know his antipathy towards him and his ideas was always evident, as was his obdurate refusal to accept all the evidence adduced by Jeremy on biomass fuel source, but surely even he should have seen how totally inappropriate his statement was. I was genuinely shocked, as was Tom.

I only ducked in there to see if anyone had posted the news.

I was not shocked at all, the guy is a @!##.

And as usual I could not work out if Tom was agreeing with him or not :D
