Perhaps I ll buy a few boards and try.... Did you by from Jewsons or international timber?
The one on the right is Dura Teak - really didn't like it, the colour was just not attractive. I got that from my Jewsons sales rep, but he had to pay for it. The middle on is Marley Weatherboard - it's 'Light Oak' but we found it too shiny and orange - the guys at Glasgow Vivalda were great in getting two boards up. Plus, although the boards are quite labour intensive - once cut, you must paint the ends - if not, the rain can get in the ends and discolour the boards. Plus they are very messy when cutting or putting holes in - cement dust everywhere.
The Dura Cedar we got from International Timber. I don't think any of them are geared up for self builders, but I did find them all helpful in getting some boards once they knew I'd pay upfront. Best way of doing it - too big a decision to leave to small samples.
Have you tried Trespa Pura? We got some samples from Vivalda - really impressive. Rather expensive, but looked the part. I think Pura would suit your design rather well, if you don't mind the cost. There are quite a few colours that would probably look good
