Next step, Clear night and put it on top of the big barn,
It is without a doubt tracking the sun :)

Has anyone got any recommendations for good celestial dates?
Hopefully if it is a clear night i should be able to see stars with the camera :)

What do you mean by 'dates'?

All stars are interesting.
But meteor showers are good on camera. Can you do long exposure on the GoSlow?

not easily it seems

might be worth a go though :)

I was thinking more Eclipse, or especially prominent planets. potential meteor showers is a great idea though.

You can see what is in the sky with Google Earth.
View-->Explore-->Sky

Or try the Sky at Night website.

When I am old, and my balls have shrivelled up, I may buy a telescope and spend the night getting frozen.

Till then I shall use others pictures.

Hmmmm would there be any advantage to fitting a telescope to this?? If you were star gazing??

would it track much else other than the sun?? Not much of a getting cold kinda guy myself :D

Just asked my brother if there's any interesting celestial events coming up. Since I finished his telescope pier the other week (only been at it about 2 years mind) he spends many a night freezing his nuts off playing with this:

And taking this sort of thing:

if nothing else that looks awesome.
I don't think my GoPro on a wonder wipes bucket is going to produce quite the same level of photography

I had a ladder. I can't see the problem. You should have seen where the ladder was before I went and got the loader :D

No one asked me to go up there so if I fell it would only have been me to blame. Tbh it was so nice and dry I could have walked up the roof without the ladder.

To have been completely safe you should have had a milk crate wedged in somewhere.

No high Vis, hard hat, gloves or ear defenders and you still survived.

I was going to tie the ladder to the loader. But time was of the essence. I did have steel toes on. They have even got steel soles. Plenty safe enough :)

Mind you, IF that had been the video camera and you had fallen off, Faye would have been in for a bonus of £250 from YBF on top of the insurance pay out, so all good, :D

Tbh it was my mother who was holding the camera. And if she wasn't able to stop me getting up there HSE have got no chance :D
