We are planning a side extension, knocking down concrete garage and building a new garage with bedroom above.
The house is over 1100ft up on the moors in the North Pennines and in an extremely exposed location, it gets battered by severe winds and it rains upwards at times.
But its beautiful and we love it.
I have suggested to the architect that we have 3 walls, 2 block and one reclaimed outer brick to match the existing house. x2 100mm cavities. Do you think this will suffice in keeping the water out bearing in mind the location.
Any other ideas? The architect thinks its a great idea for the walls, they would be 20 inch thick.
