This means that I can cost all the jobs for the digger, separate out the labour (~£10 ish) guess sensible amounts of time for each job and cost the lot.
And show SWMBO the logic as to why it is worth buying a less than 1000 hours 2.6 tonne lump of pure joy.
I've done the calcs roughly in my head and bits of paper, but later this week I'll do the full calculation together with depreciation calcs and then post it to see if I've missed something.
At present, I think it's a marginal decision: availability when I want it, and labour at zero make the case. And then there's the pure fun. I want to enjoy my retirement. And who knows I might need the skill later in life too!

Yes, that's a useful reminder.
Years of teaching people to teach and learn online have convinced me of the value of paper. It's comfortable.
But online, or within a book, an excellent search engine cannot be beaten.
