ebuild is sad to announce its closure - it has become too time and resource intensive to develop, manage and maintain.

However, ebuild will remain on-line in archive mode (ie no posting facilties) for several weeks so that users can use it as an information resource.

Is there any user friendly software that will easily allow me to look at a CAD file and it will tell me the m2 of a wall or window or floor etc?

Most CAD packages have the ability to work out areas, volumes, angles etc

My package of choice is TurboCad, but then been using it for 20 years.

Autodesk do a free viewer that offers measuring functionality. Do not download unless you have a decent computer.

What format is your CAD file in?

You could do what you want from a Scaled PDF. There is a Measure option in the free Acrobat Reader under Edit -> Analysis -> Measuring Tool.

Once selected, you need to right-click and set the scale to the drawing scale.
