Yes, I have one, I sing its praise all the time. It does what it says on the tin and is far more useful than the little indoor things especially with the full setup with tripod and staff/receiver especially if you want it to go further than one room width and you want to be able to say pour your concrete during the day rather than midnight
Another self builder friend has one he used throughout his build and was happy with it. Around £200 gets you the full setup.
Seems a lot of bang for the buck. How 'robust' though? I've knocked my Bosch off its mag base a few times from shoulder / waist height and it shrugs it off. A very good bit of kit.

Thanks guys - the Bosch one is a bit more than I want to pay but the DW088K seems on the money - especially if I get the detector (eventually), it will be handy then for setting the drive levels etc
Time to get the card out - its been trying to hide since we started self building......
I borrowed my mates Dewalt before I bought the Bosch, and to be perfectly honest I only chose the Bosch as it projects 360o lines on all 3 plains, plus it's a laser plumb bob. As I do a lot of complex wall and floor tiling, and fitting spotlights etc I bit the bullet and went Bosch.
If you buy the Dewalt however, and can cope with a non-360o beam, then I assure you you won't be disappointed. Another robust bit of kit and very popular amongst sparkies and chippies, but they get jealous when I get mine out
