ebuild is sad to announce its closure - it has become too time and resource intensive to develop, manage and maintain.

However, ebuild will remain on-line in archive mode (ie no posting facilties) for several weeks so that users can use it as an information resource.

Hi.

Just interested in how you climb the ranks, not interested in posting for postings sake but just interested! I seem to have passed from new member to member without noticing?

Yeah, a bit like going from Middle-Aged to Old-Age without noticing; not to speak of the fine graduations like
  • Middle Age
  • Concerned Middle Aged
  • Worried Middle Aged
  • Old
  • Old Fart
Nobody tells you until, semi-pi55ed in the pub, your kids tell you the awful truth.

I notice going into middle age. Then moved to Cornwall, if only I had known that the mean age where I lived as only 7 years older than I am now, I would have stayed in Hertfordshire.

60 is the new 40, is it bollocks. :o

So what sort of 'member' am I?

I think there's some frightening statistic that I am close approaching the average age that men die in a certain part of Glasgow. I'm just glad I don't live there then.

I just realised all we've done is talk shat. Best to answer the question  :D
It's the number of posts. 10 for member 1000 for advanced etc.
Regards, Nick.

253 until I'm "advanced". Might need to start increasing the frivolous posts.

That's another one.

After a while you stop counting. Had actually forgotten all about "the counts" until this came up.

What matters is the number of "Likes" on your profile page. The counter on Jeremy's is going around for the second time! :)

Fine, but I didn't get where I am today by being liked, oh hang on yes I did - famous for being a nice bloke and get treated like a door mat - can't say I did badly on it though. Ho hum.... Will have to find something valuable to add. (See my question on ducting)

Joe, what function are you using to reply, the basic reply or the More Reply Options / Full Editor?

And if either of the latter two are the emoticons checked?

Just tried to simulate the symbols that keep appearing in your replies but couldn't get anything remotely like with the standard smileys in any function with the emoticons on or off.

And what 'machine' are you using and what browser?

Ah, that might explain it because I don't even have the option of a smiley on my iPad - ANYWHERE. :(
