Well according to this firm, the future of guttering is copper - sounds expensive! As the importance of conservational living, and the need for greener building materials increases, self-build customers and developers have begun approaching companies such as Coppa Gutta Ltd for their eco-friendly rainwater systems for house building and restoration projects.... We installed their copper guttering on our new house. It looks great. We choose it because the council wouldn't accept plastic as we are in a conservation area. The thought of painting cast iron was't very appealing. My only regret was going with round down pipes instead of square ones. I think square would have looked better (but even more expensive though). Copper guttering is more common on European self builds and there is more competition abroad. I think Coppa Gutta might be the only UK supplier from stock - Although I think some companies might make the stuff to order? |

I argee they look great but can they really be green (well they end up green)...with all the copper being knicked from the railways and the need for Flying Scotsman's firebox repairs (copper price has doubled the cost) how about good old cast iron! Check out www.northpole2006.org.uk/jjwlongbottom marvellous stuff...agree about the painting though CW If that link doesn't work, Longbottom do attend the shows. |
