ebuild is sad to announce its closure - it has become too time and resource intensive to develop, manage and maintain.

However, ebuild will remain on-line in archive mode (ie no posting facilties) for several weeks so that users can use it as an information resource.

Part 1 - We Get Started

Posted by Fallingditch , 26 April 2015 · 939 views

Part 1 - We Get Started Well we had to start. Somewhere. By the end of March 2015 (for Building Regs reasons, I was advised).

(That's actually seven years since I first started looking for an architect ...)

So job #1 became 'short drainage trench between existing foul-water pipe and new'.

Attached Image Trench dug. Vintage cast iron drainpipe laid (temporarily).

Attached Image Trackway laid.

Away we go!

What a coincidence, this is exactly how we 'started' our build in March - 24m of new foul drainage. Not much progress since then unfortunately!

What forced you to "start" was it a planning condition that the development had to "start" by a particular date otherwise PP would lapse?

In our case the first condition of the PP was we first create the access from the highway onto the plot, so we have now done that so we have "started" but we are nowhere near the start deadline anyway so it wasn't done for that reason.

Architect's advice. I believe starting in 2014/2015 meant that we will be subject to a certain instance of Building Regulations - any later and the Regs would become more arduous.

TBH I didn't dig into the reasoning too far, since the main start date is about one month away (fingers crossed), and the minor piece of work described above was pretty easy to carry out.

Also, I had been wondering what to do with those cast iron pipes LOL
