ebuild is sad to announce its closure - it has become too time and resource intensive to develop, manage and maintain.

However, ebuild will remain on-line in archive mode (ie no posting facilties) for several weeks so that users can use it as an information resource.

Day 6 and day 7 of the house frame construction sees the garage added on to the end of the house

And the main ridge beam for the main roof also arrived and got lifted straight off the lorry up onto the roof.

Sadly the other shorter ridge beams for the gable ends did not arrive. They were due today but now we are told they will be here next Thursday.

Sadly that means the site will go silent for a week as they can't progress framing the roof without these other ridge beams.

Sorry to hear about the delay. That is some main ridge beam though!

We had trouble finding that beam. The SE had specified 70mm by 400mm but nobody up here could get that (It's a Kurto beam by the way). We ended up with a 90mm by 400mm as that was all that anyone could get. It's 11.4 metres long and weighs over half a ton.

It will be supported by two internal load bearing walls as well which have yet to be installed, they have put a temporary prop under the middle of it for now.

The suppliers up here don't seem the best at customer care. It's ironic that the hard to get beam arrived first, and all the easy peasy ones have been delayed a week.

I'm looking forward to some more pictures of your own build soon.

Jeez, that's huge! I guess it's 'Sods Law' that it's the smaller beams that have caused the delay.

Just posted my latest entry.
